LUBBOCK – Former State Representative and Candidate for House District 84 Jim Landtroop picked up the coveted Texans for Fiscal Responsibility endorsement.

“Jim Landtroop is a proven conservative who fights for the values and principles that Texans hold dear,” said TFR’s president, Michael Quinn Sullivan. “Rather than sit on the sidelines, Jim Landtroop is proven to be the bold, commonsense lawmaker taxpayers are demanding.”

In response to the endorsement, Landtroop said, “Michael Quinn Sullivan and the team at Texans for Fiscal Responsibility have earned a lot of respect for calling out elected officials that claim to be conservative in the district but have a liberal voting record while in Austin. They seek to ‘Empower Texans’ with the right information to make an educated vote. I was honored to receive an ‘A’ rating from them as a legislator, and am humbled by this endorsement.”

Texans for Fiscal Responsibility ( is the largest grassroots organization in the state focused on state and local fiscal and governance policy issues. Endorsements are made in consultation with advisors, subscribers and supporters in each district.

Sullivan noted that TFR scored incumbent John Frullo with an ‘F’ for a variety of votes including voting against small business franchise tax relief (House Record Vote: 421), voting against transparency in government (House Record Vote: 11), and supporting increasing welfare benefits to felons (House Record Vote: 979).

“Texans are looking for reform-minded, no-nonsense candidates who will fight for their constituents rather than serve the corrupt crony-culture of the Capitol,” added Sullivan. “That’s why so many taxpayers in House District 84 are already supporting Jim Landtroop, and why we are proud to stand alongside them.”
